In the heart of the village, the Greyhound Hotel is a three-storey Georgian building, constructed in sandstone. It has made a substantial contribution to the history of the local area. Cromford Mill was the world’s first factory and was built by Sir Richard Arkwright, inventor of the Water Frame, a machine that revolutionised the cotton industry.
